2nd Grade Scarab Beetles

This year we had an Egyptian inspired theme to integrate ancient egyptian history into the arts and literature. I worked with our librarian to get the students involved with making bigger connections in multiple subjects. We researched many topics of the past including the use and symbolic meaning of the scarab beetle. 2 md grade students created these fabulous scarab beetles made from paper. We discussed symmetry and the anatomy of beetles as well. A great science, art, and history lesson!
